That's fresh -- Washington asparagus, grown in the deep, rich soil of the Walla Walla Valley, where the mild climate provides a prime area for the commercial production of this superior vegetable

The asparagus harvest in the Walla Walla Valley of southeastern Washington begins on April 15th and lasts through June 15th. The crop harvested in this period is fresh and green, with tender spears and closed, compact tips.

At the Walla Walla Gardeners' Association, the daily harvest is hydro-cooled, line graded to 7, 8 and 9 inch lengths, and packed upright in 30 pound net weight wooded pyramids with a moisture retaining pad in the pyramid base, and then hydro-cooledto its shipping temperature of 36° F. We pack to the Washington Extra Fancy and Washington Fancy grade which exceeds the U.S. standards.

We also have asparagus roots available for shipment to Washington, Oregon and Idaho some time in early March. The roots are packed in bags of 250 and are state inspected for shipment out of state. The price per bag is $12.50.
